Speed Up IRCTC Ticket Booking

Most of us would have faced horrible time while booking ticket from irctc website. Famous “Service Unavailable” page which used to come too often and you will again start entering your username, password and journey details from scratch. You can’t still be sure that you won't see “Service Unavailable” page again. This post is for those people who got to that situation often. Those people who never faced such situation it will surely be a useful read.

One Time setup to speed up your rail ticket booking :

Follow below steps to complete IE setting.

We are going to use iOpus web automation software for speeding things up.

Install iMacros7 software(a product of iOpus) for IE in your machine. You can get the 30-day trial version from below website.

Clear all saved passwords stored from your IE browser (saving passwords can create problems at times using imacros). Atleast don't save irctc password.

After installing imacros, open IE browser. You will see a new IMACROS (IM) icon in IE toolbar. Click this icon, to open IM menu within IE Window

Go to : www.irctc.co.in website in IE browser. Usually IM menu will be displayed in left hand side of your IE window.

Choose “RECORD” tab in IM menu and click “RECORD” button.

Enter your Username , Password in IRCTC website and press ENTER Key.

After logging-in, enter Journey Details From, To, Date, Ticket Type, Quota and click “Find Trains”

click “STOP” button in IMacro menu.

Now right click on “Current.iim” and Rename the file to “irctc-book”.

Half of your setup is now done. J

Now choose your train and click Book button from Availability menu on your journey date. You will now get the Ticket Reservation page.

Now again click “RECORD” button from the IMacro menu.

Enter all the Passenger details in the Reservation Page and click “STOP” button from IMacro menu.

Right click on “Current.iim” and Rename the file to “form-fill”.

You are only few steps away from completing the setup.

Now right click on “irctc-book.iim” macro file and choose “Edit Macro”. You will get the IM Editor. Similarly right click on "form-fill.iim" macro file and choose “Edit Macro”. You will see both the files opened in the editor.

In “irctc-book.iim” macro file add below command at end of the file.

PAUSE

Now copy all the lines below “URL GOTO =” command from “form-fill” file and paste it at END of edited irctc-book macro file.

That’s it. J You are done with the setup.

You can now close the browser window.

When you decide to book a ticket at later point of time:

Open IE browser.

Click “irctc-book.iim” file from the iMacro menu and click Play.

Now you don’t have to enter your username, password, journey details. All the details will get filled up automatically.

Choose your Train and click BOOK button from IRCTC page. You will get Ticket Reservation page.

Now click “CONTINUE” button in IM Menu . All the passenger details will get filled up from macro file.

Rest of process will have to be taken care by yourself…
