Everyone will have this question in mind. Is tablet worth buying ? For those who already decided to buy consider below points before buying.
Four basic requirements for Tablets:
a. Should be compact.
b. User interface has to be steady.
c. Rich multimedia features.
d. Web browsing.
Popular tablets that are available in market today.
a. Ipad2
b. Samsung Galaxy tab.
c. Motorolo Xoom.
d. Blackberry Playbook.
Now if you review all 4 requirements with each one of the popular tablets. You will come to know that not all requirements are satisfied by any existing tablets. Which is again surprise to know with the amount of advertisement each tablet company does. Now we will review the pros and cons of each of them.
Ipad2 :
Pros:
- Rich User interface.
- Lot of apps available.
Cons:
- USB port not available. So, you can't drag and drop a media file to play it. Have to use i-tunes to transfer media files.
- You can browse on only one window at a time. No Flash support.
- Comes with a low resolution cameras.
Samsung Galaxy Tab:
Pros:
- Compact(7') when compared to rest of tablets.
- Lots of apps available.
- Comes with decent 3MP camera. Still not so great.
Cons:
- Again USB port not available. You have to use samsung media library to transfer content.
- Can browse on only one window at a time. No Flash support.
Motorola Xoom:
Pros:
- Big screen(10.1') and rich user interface.
- Flash support is present.
- You can browse on multiple window at a time.
- Comes with latest android Honeycomb3.0 OS.
- You can drag and drop the file on xoom.
Cons:
- Looks big very difficult to hold in a single hand. So, you might have to keep the tablet on table and do scrolling with both hands.
Blackberry Playbook:
Pros:
- Looks compact.
- Flash support is present.
- Multitasking works great. So, you can browse and watch a video all at a same time.
Cons:
- User interface not so great. Not as good as ipad2/galaxy tab.
- Not many free apps available for this playbook.
As i said before no tablet satisfies all four requirements. So, we might have to wait till the tablet market matures. Till then going for netbook is a clever option. Please drop your comments if you find these details useful.
